First Skanssi Quarter

Designed by LPR Architects, this quarter design is located at the heart of Turku’s Skanssi district in close proximity to the Skanssi shopping centre. The goal of the zoning stage was to create a highly ecological residential quarter, consisting of different house and flat types, a diverse social spectrum and a unique identity, that offered a pleasant living environment to suit every phase of life.

The First Skanssi Quarter, which consists of three low-rise, deck-access apartment buildings, three 6-8-storey apartment buildings and a shared sauna and club building, was completed in the area. Parking is provided for under a parking deck placed in the middle of the buildings. The deck serves as a shared yard space for the buildings. The parking facility offers direct access to the residences.

The facades and materials used in the quarter form a uniform whole, whose balconies, low-rise buildings and pent and gable roofs give the development a human scale.
